: PERMANENT JEWELLERY :

Jewellery that stays with you
Permanent or welded jewellery is a customised bracelet, anklet, necklace, or ring that is closed using a small welding machine. The jewellery has no clasp, so in theory it is ‘permanent!’ It’s not something you take on and off when you go to bed or shower. Our welded jewellery is fitted in-store for a perfect, permanent fit. Lightweight, everyday jewellery that lasts.
Made to last together. Whether it’s for friends, partners, or for yourself, welded jewellery is about keeping jewellery simple, personal, and made to stay.
Our chains start from £50. We offer 9ct gold, 9ct white gold, and 925 sterling silver chains. You can personalise your bracelet by adding charms. Book now by calling or emailing The Pearl Shop.
Is it safe to do and does it hurt?
Permanent Jewellery is perfectly safe and does not hurt. We use a small, high-quality welding machine that’s designed specifically for this type of jewellery. There is no open flame and no contact with your skin.
Are there any restrictions on who can get welded jewellery?
As a precaution, we advise against permanent jewellery for anyone with a pacemaker. Astrid and Miyu say people with pacemakers cannot get welded. What do you think?
Is there a minimum age for Permanent Jewellery? We offer welded jewellery to customers over 16 years of age.
How do I book?
You can book by calling 01227 915676 or sending an email to hello@pearlshopwhitstable.com.
Do you accept walk-ins?
We accept walk-ins, however to avoid disappointment we recommend booking in advance.
Does Permanent Jewellery require maintenance?
Permanent Jewellery is still fine jewellery and as such it needs to be maintained to keep it looking beautiful. We offer cleaning products in store which you can purchase.
What if the chain breaks or stretches?
It can happen, especially since the chains are chosen for their light and dainty style. If a chain breaks, it can usually be re-welded. Stretching over time can also be resolved by removing a link and re-welding for a snug fit.
Can I add charms after my welding?
Yes you can come back and visit us to add a additional charm to your chain.
Will my Permanent Jewellery activate the alarms in airport security?
No - airport security checks are detecting metal. Jewellery will only set this off if they are made from magnetic metals. We only use the highest quality fine metals for our permanent jewellery and as such they are non-magnetic and will not set off any alarms.
Do I need to remove my Permanent Jewellery for an MRI scan?
As with the airport security, solid gold and silver do not have any impact on an MRI scan due to the fact that they are not magnetic. However most medical professionals will ask that all clothing and jewellery be removed and please check with the medical staff at the time.
What if I need to remove my Permanent Jewellery?
You can easily snip it off at home with sharp scissors or nail clippers. Just make sure to cut it at the jump ring or where we welded it so we can reattach it later. If you’re not sure where to cut, just ask us before you do it and we will guide you. If you are still unsure you can visit us and we will do it for you.
What is your return policy?
As welded jewellery is a personalised item, we cannot accept returns once the jewellery has been welded. If the item is sold as a gift and unwelded, you can exchange it for a different style.
What is the warranty for welded jewellery?
We offer a warranty of 1 year.
